Rishi Kapoor wanted Ranbir Kapoor to get married 'before he is gone' - read throwback interview

Back in 2018, Rishi Kapoor had opened up about his desire to see his son Ranbir Kapoor married. He had stated, "I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone."

Rishi Kapoor, who was suffering cancer and had stayed in the US for treatment for almost a year had returned to India after being cancer free. Unfortunately, his cancer had relapsed, as confirmed by his brother Randhir Kapoor to Zoom TV in an interview. And earlier today, the veteran actor passed away at the age of 67.
After being the star of 70s and 80s, Rishi Kapoor had transitioned from the lead star to a supporting one in Raju Chacha and a few years later he did some of the best work of his career in films like Agneepath, D-Day, Kapoor & Sons etc.
In a two year old interview, Rishi Kapoor had talked about his desire to see Ranbir Kapoor married. At that time, Ranbir had recently revealed that he is in relationship with Alia Bhatt. When Rishi was  asked about Ranbir's relationship with Alia, he had stated in an interview with a newspaper, "Jo hai woh hai, sabko pata hai. I don't need to say anything more."
He had also stated in the same interview that he feels it's high time Ranbir should get married as he is 35. Rishi also stated that he himself was 27 when he got married. "It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don't have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone," Rishi had told Mid-day back in 2018.
He had further added, "[Be it] Ranbir or his contemporaries, actors have blinkers on and are focused on their work. The only women they meet are the actresses. They don't socialise as much; that is the flipside of life in the movies."
Rishi also stated that he now wants to spend some time with his grand children, "He can marry anyone of his choice; we don’t have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone. Whenever he is ready for it, we will be happy. Our happiness lies in his happiness, after all."
Well, that was Rishi Kapoor's statement where he wanted Ranbir to get married as he was 35. The Brahmastra star is 37 now.
Almost two months before Rishi's desire to get Ranbir married, the Sanju actor had confirmed his relationship with Alia Bhatt in an interview with GQ. He had said, "It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to over speak. It needs time to breathe and it needs space."
