He was a powerhouse of talent: PM Narendra Modi condoles the death of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor and said that he was a 'powerhouse of talent'. "Multifaceted, endearing and lively...this was Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was a powerhouse of talent. I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. He was passionate about films and India’s progress. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti," Modi said on Twitter. 
The veteran actor passed away after a prolonged battle with leukaemia. In a statement, the family said - "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8.45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last."
"He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him," the statement further said.
Condolences poured in from across social spectrum as political leaders, sportspersons and film personalities offered a tribute to the evergreen actor. 
"Deeply shocked & saddened at the demise of the iconic & versatile film actor #RishiKapoor. A National Film Award winner, he acted in more than 150 films. He endured his illness with dignity and grace. My condolences to his family, friends, fans & the entire film fraternity," West Bengal Chief Minister Banerjee tweeted.
Kapoor's demise is the second major jolt to the film industry within a span of fewer than 48 hours. The film fraternity paid tribute to versatile actor Irrfan Khan who passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday.

A couple who recreated a picture that they clicked 28 years ago is melting the hearts of netizens. Raymon 'Ray' Michael Puzon took to Twitter to share two photographs of his parents standing at a memorial at Lingayen Beach in the Philippines.
