The four men convicted in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case were executed on Friday morning. After the hanging of the four men - Akshay Kumar Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh Singh - at 5:30am at Delhi's Tihar Jail, Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their feelings and offer their well wishes to Nirbhaya's family.
Sharing the pictures of the hanged convicts, Rishi Kapoor wrote, "Nirbhaya Justice. 'Jaisi karni waisi bharni' Let this set an example not only in India but world over. Punishment for rape is by death. You have to respect womanhood. Shame on the people who delayed the execution. Jai Hind! (sic)."

After the four Nirbhaya convicts were hanged, the victim's mother, Asha Devi, spoke to the media and thanked the judiciary and the government for ensuring that the rapists of her daughter were executed. "It may have taken time, but justice was finally delivered," she said.
The rapists were hanged on Friday more than seven years after the brutal gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old student. In 2012, the incident caused large-scale protests across the nation which resulted in stricter laws against rape and setting up of Nirbhaya Fund for rape victims.
