Atrangi Re: Sara Ali Khan to romance both Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in Anand L Rai film

In Atrangi Re, Sara Ali Khan will be seen romancing Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. The actress is playing a girl from Bihar in the film.

After the failure of Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal, Sara Ali Khan is all set to star in another love story with Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. The stars are coming together for Anand L Rai's Atrangi Re. While it was earlier speculated that the actress will be seen romancing the southern star in the film and Akshay will have a cameo, reports now suggest that Sara will be romancing both the actors.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the screenplay of Atrangi Re follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in parallel. Does it remind you of any other recent Sara film? Well, this time Sara will be seen romancing the two actors, Akshay and Dhanush, in two timelines.
A source close to the development told the publication, "While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel."
Anand L Rai's Atrangi Re is a cross-cultural love story set in Bihar and Madurai. While Sara plays a girl from Bihar, Dhanush will be seen as a guy from Madurai.
Talking about the film in a statement, the director said, "All the three characters are funnily weird and it's their emotional journey. I am always looking for partners who are as emotionally touched as I am with the story and all three of them are like that. Every character in this film has it's own traits will put them in an unseen space."
In January, Akshay Kumar took to social media to announce the film. Sharing pictures of himself with Sara and Dhanush, he wrote, "This one is really special. Presenting #AtrangiRe by @aanandlrai. An @arrahman musical. Releasing on Valentine's 2021. Written by: #HimanshuSharma (sic)."
The team will commence shooting in March. The first schedule will be shot in Bihar, followed by Madurai schedule. Atrangi Re is slated for a Valentine's Day release, next year.
