Beauty Procedures To Avoid A Week Before Your Wedding

Your wedding is possibly one of the most important days in your life, if not the most. Evidently, you would want to look and feel your best on this very special day. This is where beauty procedures and treatments come into play, to help you achieve the perfect wedding that you had envisioned. Going in for microblading, dermaplaning, hair glossing treatments, or a routine waxing and threading session, can aid your essential skincare requirements, but one mustn't engage in these procedures just a few days prior to their big day.
Brides Today spoke to skincare experts including Dr Simal Soin, Aayna Clinic, Dr Pooja Chhabra, founder Nuskay, and Dr Geetika Mittal, Isaac Wellness, on the "Don'ts"  and dangers of going in for beauty procedures far too close to your wedding day.
"A week before the wedding should only consist of glow facials, and grooming services," claims Dr Geetika Mittal. Harsh treatments like laser hair removal, fillers, hair PRP and body contouring should be done well in advance, so as to avoid any unwanted and unexpected reactions on the skin. Since all individuals have a different skin type and level of skin sensitivity, one must be wary when indulging in skin procedures, which may lead to adverse skin problems. Since you may already be experiencing pre-wedding jitters, a skin ailment should be the last of your worries.
Understandably, the week before the wedding is a period of tremendous stress & anxiety for the bride-to-be. Thereby, experimentation with new skincare products or harsh beauty regimes are a big no-no. Exposing the skin to anything new may react in an unfavourable manner, says Dr Simal Soin. Hence, aggressive facials are best avoided a week before the wedding, as they may or may not lead to unwanted breakouts on the skin.
"Chemical peels are a type of skincare designed to remove dead skin cells and reveal healthier skin. It also helps erase fine lines and help in achieving an even-toned complexion. But peels leave your skin dry, red and irritated, and it is not wise to get it done right before the wedding day as one cannot predict how the skin will react to it. If there is a reaction, it may take time to heal," says Dr Simal Soin. Chemical peeling, bleaching or tanning treatments can also alter the natural skin colour, according to Dr Pooja Chhabra. Moreover, deep cleansing facials can often lead to unwanted breakouts as they bring impurities to the surface. Henceforth, you must refrain from chemical peels, harsh facials or any invasive treatments, as the big day approaches.
Besides this, Dr Simal Soin also states that one should avoid relying on home remedies, which aren't that effective on the skin. "No one can know how your skin will react prior to your wedding, and there are many natural ingredients that can irritate your skin and make it more sensitive," she claims.
With your D-day coming closer, you definitely don't want to be suffering from stinging, burning, redness, or tightness. If you need to undergo any beauty treatments prior to your wedding, you must ideally take expert advice before doing so.
