New Delhi: As the party season begins in full swing, you might want to take more care of your weight and your health. The holiday-season binge can lead to weight gain, and while the food is definitely irresistible during this time of the year, the drinks can be compromised on. We often take care of what we are eating, and are conscious since we know it can affect our weight and health, but do not take beverages as seriously.
Even when we gain weight, we blame it on the food, but beverages are, in fact, an equal culprit. If you do not want to gain weight this holiday season, apart from watching what you eat, you must also pay close attention to what you should, and should not drink. Here is a list of a few drinks you must try to avoid, and a few alternatives that you can pick instead.
Avoid the sodas
The sugary sodas, or more popularly called soft drinks are unhealthy for you and contain a lot of sugar, which can lead to weight gain. You must try to steer clear of these at the parties this season. Do not fall into the trap of 'diet' or 'zero sugar' versions of the sodas, since they are just as harmful to health, and can make you gain weight.
High-calorie cocktails
If you are going to indulge in alcohol during the party, you must try to pick cocktails with the least number of calories. Do your research, and make sure you drink in moderation to avoid a bad hangover and damage to your health.
Flavoured coffee
Nothing sounds as comforting as a cup of hot coffee on the cold winter evenings of the party season. Coffee is also a healthy beverage when had in moderation. However, when flavours like caramel, whipped cream, chocolate, syrups, etc are added to the coffee, it may taste very well, but will definitely lead to adding up some pounds to your weight.
If you are looking to avoid these drinks this party season, and wish to consume something healthier, more weight-loss friendly, you can simply opt for a glass of water, every time you feel thirsty at the party. Virgin mojito, without sugar, is also a refreshing and healthy drink. When sipping on something warm, opt for a cup of plain coffee, or a herbal tea.
