New Delhi : State-controlled oil marketing companies on Thursday (February 20) refrained from changing the price of petrol and diesel for the second successive day across the country. Global benchmark Brent crude rose 1 per cent today and prices have regained some of their 2020 slide so far this month due to a drop in new coronavirus cases in China’s Hubei province—the epicentre of the outbreak. Rates in top cities In Delhi, a litre of petrol today costs Rs 71.89 while diesel costs Rs 64.65 per litre, no change compared with Wednesday’s price. The pump prices of fuel are the cheapest Delhi among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes. In the last 20 days, petrol became cheaper by Rs 1.30 a litre and diesel by Rs 1.57 in the national capital. If you are in Chennai, you will have to pay 74.68 for a litre of petrol and Rs 68.27 for diesel, as per data available with Indian Oil Corp website.
